The Self Reliance Project

The Self Reliance Project is a community based, non-profit organization designed to promote and build self reliance at an individual and family level. It was created in 1995 by John Seymour and Steve Campbell (from the California band Relayer) for Baja Records as the conduit for their benefit concert series to handle the organization, delivery and distribution of produce and goods to local shelters and organizations.
The project provides food, clothing, and money to churches, shelters, and food closets throughout California and works with local animal rescue organizations facilitating placement of abandoned pets. Proceeds are donated through benefit concerts held by Baja Records, sale of goods and donations. Over the years we have expanded into various other community services in need of help such as drug diversion, women and children services and animal rescue and housing.

2015 is our 20th year and we are putting on the finishing touches to the show at the Placer County Fair Grounds this summer to benefit Auburn Interfaith Food Closet. Check back here soon for more info.
Click on the Contact button at the top of the page and fill out the form if you can help us put on the benfits this year. We’re going to be setting up the bands and we also need volunteers the day of the concert.
